Tackles:
When we in the team are doing wrasse fishing we'll do it almost exclusively with bottom angling. Then we use an inverse paternostertackel with only a hook to the bait so it is "intermediate" a few inches above the bottom. At the bottom of the tacklet you use a weights of 30-100 grams, depending on the rod, which lindimension etc, that you use. After the weight there is a tackelline that goes up to the linkknot. After te´he linkknot the tackelline continues up to the swivel. At the end of the linknot you tie the hook. Then just tie the headline to the swivel and go out fish. We use both different variants of reverse paternostertackel. But both have the same function. This is the most common variant of an inverse paternostertackel: (See the picture at the bottom)

Locations:
Places we fish at after wrasse are places where there is cliffs into the water and it is almost 10 meters deep just beside land and sometimes more. We also fish where cliffs are sloping down towards the bottom, at these places you can fish on the slope and know when the weight bounces at the slope. Sometimes you can even find rocky holes a bite out of land, such places can often provide good dividends and the big wrasse likes to patrol there. You can also fish in places where it is very hilly rock bottom with large rocks. However, it is quite easy to be trapped at the bottom with the weight at these places.

Methods:
The method we use is bottom angling. when you have made some tackel, got a good reel with enough strong line (0.35-0.40 monofilament), a strong rod, bait and other accessories you are ready for the wonderful Wrassefishing! Once you're out on the hot wrasse places with the right equipment, you also have to be able to master the method. The principles of wrassefishing is quite simple. When you have the rod in a firm grip, the ready-baited tacklet tangels from the rodtipp ready to sink down towards the bottom. Then you can just release the line and drop tacklet straight down to the bottom, whether you fish from a boat or a cliff where there is deep right into land. When the tackel are down at the bottom the line getts slack, then reel the line in until it is completely stretched and you can feel the weight.
we usually bounce the weight a few times at the bottom right when we started to fish at one place, this creates noise and turbulence at the bottom which seems to attract wrasses. Then we use to keep the rod quite still until the fishes beggins to bait. In the beginning it use to be small fishes in the spot taking the bait, . If the small fishes don´t ripp the bait of the hook. The Wrasses will soon start to bait. When you considers that it is time to try hooking a fish you have to make a fast hard strike, to put the hook into the wrasses massive lip. It is therefore very important to have a sharp hook in sizes 2-6. Once you have managed to hook a "big" Wrasse or bigger it will be a hard fight! And if you fail to push hard enough so the fish reaches down to the bottom, it is often the fish that wins. If you succes to fight a Wrasse to the surface, you ca unhook it with a peang. Is there a larger wrasse which you want to take a photo of it is goog if you land it with a knotless landingnet. Are you supposed to weigh the fish, we recommend that you do it when the fish is in a knotless net.

That's all you need to know about wrassefishing.
